St. Peter's Onam Celebration - Next Day Edit

Growing up as an Indian, living here in the U.S., I've grown accustomed to the harmonious blend of east/west traditions. This weekend was no different, as it was Onam; a big celebration that originated in Kerala, India. There are numerous legends as to Onam and the history behind it, but in essence it's a gathering by the people to thank God for the year's harvest.

I spent the Onam weekend, like many other South Indians celebrating in the festivities. The Next Day Edit that you see below is a highlight of the Onam Service and festivities at the church I've attended since I was a little kid.

Being a photographer, I'm pretty proud of this edit, as this is the first time I primarily used video instead of photo.

To my fellow St. Peter's crew, this will always be home.

Stephanie + Ray's Engagement Pictures

Passionate.

To sum up Stephanie + Ray in one word, it would be passionate. They're passionate in everything that they do; soccer (they're huge Chicago Fire fans), God, church, family, and most importantly; themselves.

I've known Ray for almost six years; even before he met Stephanie. When she came into his life, they were the perfect couple. To say she completes him sounds a bit corny, but really, she does complete him. I'm super excited to be their wedding photographer, and before their big day, we went to multiple locations throughout Aurora for their engagement photo session.

Streets of Aurora

Being a wedding photographer, I love being able to find those perfect spots. Spots that might not always be noticed right away, and spots that are not really known about. This is what makes every engagement session, and every picture unique.

We started off on the banks of the Fox River. I told Stephanie + Ray to walk and do their thing. As they did, I took this amazing shot of them in the moment.

Stephanie + Ray click so well together, that I didn't really have to instruct them on what to do during the shoot. Here's a shot of them clicking so well.

As we walked around through the streets of Aurora, Ray stopped and kissed Stephanie on the forehead. I was prepared for that shot, and look at how it turned out.

It's so easy doing my job as a Wedding Photographer, when the couple is always smiling and looking at each other. Stephanie + Ray are so much fun together, and were continually smiling in all of their pictures.

We then came across a waterfall. Love this engagement picture!

This is one amazing photo of Stephanie + Ray. And I'm going out on a limb here by saying, this is probably one of the best photos of you two in the world..........that is until I take the portrait of you two on your wedding day. =)

A simple portrait - yet so classy and beautiful.

Joy.....calmness.....happiness....beauty.....friends. Some of the different thoughts and emotions I feel when I look at this next portrait.

Ray really knows how to make Stephanie smile. I am thankful to portray that aspect of their relationship through photography.

I pride myself on taking portraits that are unique and original. Here's a set of shots from Stephanie + Ray on the soccer field.

We ended off the day with a nice meal at IHOP. After dinner, I asked Stephanie + Ray for one more shot, and check out how amazing it came out; sun flare, and all.

Thanks Stephanie + Ray for your energy and love. We were able to come away with a variety of photos that captured your love for one another. Can't wait until the wedding!

With Love,

Abe S.
